Place Value - from the millions to thousandths Multiplication - up to 3 by 2 digit multiplication Division - including long division Fractions - conversions, operations, and basic understanding Decimals - limited conversion to fractions Geometry - triangles, angles, & quadrilaterals Measurement - basic conversion & angle measurements Algebra - input/output functions, solving for unknown, & using order of operations Graphing - interpretation of Line Plots
All tasks are for both the Customary (English) and Metric system of measurement. A conversion chart will be given on the test.
Be able to convert from one unit of measurement to another (within the same system - i.e. grams to kilograms, or inches to miles etc.) ---- over 50% of the test is to assess this skill
Calculations are both embedded within word problems and “straight” conversion problems
Be able to calculate elapsed time to the minute
Be able to look at a diagram and determine the distance traveled
Be able to figure the most reasonable weight of a given item
Be able to figure out what has a great value (distance, weight, or volume)
Be able to determine the perimeter and area of a figure – within word problems
